Creative Europe MEDIA Sub-Programme has been a vital component of the European audiovisual landscape. Festivals across Europe, supported by Media program have been the main promoters of European audiovisual works. The proposal for establishment of 2021-2027 Creative Europe programme suggests offering opportunities for operators to develop technologically and artistically innovative European trans-border initiatives to exchange, co-create, coproduce and distribute European works with wider use of digital technology.
Will this shift affect the funding of the European Festivals that have used traditional marketing and promotion approach? What is the distribution landscape through Festival Markets in EU countries in comparison to the region? Will cross-border partnerships and networks encourage the scaling up of Europe’s cultural and creative sectors? And finally, what can Kosovo’s audiovisual and creative sector learn from this transition in policies?
