“The Hollow of the Hand” – Seamus Murphy at DokuPhoto
DokuFest is proud to announce the return of renowned photographer Seamus Murphy to the festival – this time, to launch the DokuPhoto exhibition on August 4th.
Murphy, 7 times World Press Photo Winner is an illustrious photographer with a career spanning over two decades and having photographed in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. His exhibition at DokuPhoto, opening a day before the official start of DokuFest, will stay open for the entirety of the festival and will feature selection of photographs from the book “The Hollow of the Hand”.
The book is a collaboration between Seamus Murphy and British singer and artist PJ Harvey and features a collection of poetries and photographs from their trips to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington DC.
The audience will have the opportunity to attend a special screening of videos of PJ Harvey reciting poetry from the book as well as a special night dedicated to Murphy with screening of three short films he made during the trips, three music videos Murphy shot for PJ Harvey’s latest album “The Hope Six Demolition Project” and 4 short documentaries he made earlier. A truly fantastic showcase of the work of two remarkable artists!
