On August 5, our castle will become the site of an abstract audio-visual work composed of specifically generated and selected waveforms, feedbacks, impulses, clicks; the sound of mechanics, electricity, magnetism, light and other radiation.
Raster – Noton cofounder Frank Bretschneider will bring his musical-visual work »EXP«, which he based on the idea that fine art should attain the abstract purity of music. It is an attempt to assimilate the qualities found in music – including movement, rhythm, tempo, mood, intensity and compositional structure – within visual phenomena.
Bretschneider is a musician, composer and video artist whose work is known for precise sound placement, complex, interwoven rhythm structures and its minimal, flowing approach. Described as “abstract analogue pointillism”, “ambience for spaceports” or “hypnotic echochamber pulsebeat”, Bretschneider’s subtle and detailed music is echoed by his visuals: perfect translated realizations of the qualities found in music within visual phenomena.
The Berlin based artist performs at music/new media festivals worldwide, and we couldn’t be prouder to host him this edition of DokuFest.
