This year’s edition marks the fifth year in a row DokuFest will be featuring a slate of films from the European Film Academy selection of the best European shorts competing for the prestigious EFA Short Matters award.

The 2016 contestants provide a wide range of cinematic experiences, from films documenting the horrors of war in Syria, to an intimate look at a nursing home in Chile. The short films chosen have moved viewers across Europe and the world.

This year’s festival will include all 15 films that were nominated for the prestigious European Film Awards (EFA) best Short film in 2016 award.  Included in the selection is DokuFest’s very own co-production “HOME” & the winner of the award “9 days – From my Window in Aleppo”.

The EFA Shorts award is organized in co-operation with fifteen partner festivals each year, at each of which an independent international jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a nomination for European Short Film EFA Short Matters award.
