DokuFest & PlayUK are elated to announce a cooperative effort to bring two master classes and an industry panel discussion to the 16th edition of DokuFest. PlayUK the British Council’s platform that supports and helps develop the audio-visual sector in the Western Balkans amongst many other areas of the world, will be presenting a panel of BAFTA winning film HOME co-producers from UK and Kosovo, to share their perspective on the importance of collaborative projects, as well as HOME’s role in spreading cultural connectivity for Kosova.
In addition to the panel, PlayUK and DokuFest present two-master classes open to the public, the first taught by Paul Williams. Williams’ is a notable British film writer and director, known for his award winning film “London to Brighton” and recent productions including “The Eichmann Show” and “Cherry Tree Lane”. Williams will be leading a class discussing a collaboration currently in development with filmmaker James Holcombe , and will discuss the politics of imagery.
The second class will be taught by a headliner of this year’s edition of DokuFest, John Smith. This year’s festival includes a retrospective of some of Smith’s best works with 21 of his films being screened. Smith wears many hats, as he writes, shoots, produces and performs postproduction on all of his films. At this years edition of DokuFest John Smith will be leading a master-class focused on how to make your own films and the technical skills required ranging from storytelling to cinematography, audio and editing techniques.
