The documentary Whose flag is it? won first prize at the Digital Caravan, organized by LimArt in Prijepolje in Serbia. The short documentary by Baris Karamuco was selected among a competition of 15 films from the region.
Director Karamuco ponders the notion of national identity and the debate of the Kosovar flag. The film brilliantly threads an extraordinary sequence of a teacher explaining the flag to her wide-eyed kindergarten students. The documentary is a result of the project Human Rights Film Factory – Human Rights Stories from the Kosovo Margins funded by EU Office in Kosovo and implemented by DokuFest.
The criteria for the main award at the Digital Caravan was the way that identity and the chosen theme were presented, how courageous was the film as well as the technical aspect of the film production.
