THE AGREEMENT to screen at DokuKino

    The AGREEMENT poster

On Thursday December 19th at 18:00hrs at DokuKino we are screening the documentary film THE AGREEMENT by Danish director Karen Stokkendal Poulsen. The film outlines the talks between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia with EU mediation, and it features moments from the negotiation process at the EU office in Brussels in 2011.

Stakes are high but in spite of the seriousness of the negotiations, they turn out to be surprisingly funny and carried out with style and charm by the three characters at the table – Edita Tahiri, negotiator for Kosovo, Borko Stefanovic, negotiator for Serbia and EU diplomat and negotiator Robert Cooper. In this film the anonymous offices and corridors in Brussels turn out to be the thrilling place for intense drama, emotions and the making of a bit of world history. It is completely spellbinding and unexpectedly entertaining to watch the diplomatic game between the three parties. Edita wants freedom for Kosovo; Borko will never recognize Kosovo’s independence. Robert’s got one thing to offer the parties – the prospect of a EU membership. It’s the last territorial conflict of Europe and crucial for the EU to prove its ability to make peace in its own backyard.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Edita Tahiri, director Karen Stokkendal Poulsen and producer Vibeke Vogel will attend the screening and the following Q & A.
