This year, DokuFest presents a special strand bringing a selection of Armenian documentaries and short films to Kosovo. Featuring some of the most outstanding works by filmmakers from different generations, Armenian Perspectives presents a cornucopia of films that offer insights and a more profound understanding of the psyche of a nation in the making. The programme is curated by Özge Calafato, former Programmer of Abu Dhabi Film Festival and lecturer at the New York University Abu Dhabi.
Armenian Perspectives includes the films 140 Drams by Oksana Mirzoyan; A Story of People in War and Peace by Vardan Hovhannisyan; Embers by Tamara Stepanyan; Endless Escape, Eternal Return by Harutyun Khachatryan; The Fifth Column by Vatche Boulghourjian; I Left My Shoes in Istanbul by Nigol Bezjian; Pure State of the Soul by Uğur Egemen İres and Farewell by Maria Saakyan.
“Through works that demonstrate deep emotional and political attachments to the homeland, Armenian Perspectives offers a dazzling kaleidoscope of the sentiments, smells, sounds and tastes of a vast landscape that survives in the vivid memories of millions of Armenians today” says curator Özge Calafato.
The full slate of films will be announced on July 24th on our website.
