The films created during the Regional Documentary Film School ACTive premiered in Pravo Ljudski Film Festival in Sarajevo. The first ACTive was held in Prizren in July this year when 16 young talented filmmakers from the Balkans participated in an intensive 8 day process of idea development, writing, researching as well as directing and editing their films. The outcome of the workshop were five short films telling stories from the life of a lesbian couple in Kosovo to human relations in a Prizren hostel or the life of a young butcher named Ergjan.
Debris by Aleksandra Aleksovska, Andi Thaqi, Jovanche Nedelkovski; Invisibles by Ishak Jalimam, Monika Šimunac, Nita Zeqiri, Petar Antevski; Small Talk by Darko Aleksovski, Sanja Rašević, Vanesa Musović; Spring in Summer by Edin Alija, Mila Radonjikj, Vanja Ristic and Within by Lejla Mušanović, Norika Sefa, Relja Pekić were part of the programme The Future is Here: Balkan Dox Workshops of Zoom Rights, which is the youth programme of Pravo Ljudski Film Festival. Films produced by high school children through educational programs of Pravlo Ljudski, Slobodna Zona and DokuFest were also shown within this programme, which aimed at showcasing a new generation of young and talented Balkan filmmakers.
ACTive is organized by creative documentary film passionate and devoted organizations and film-makers from the Balkans and Europe, considerably contributing to the landscape of new media and documentary film in the region – Studiorum (Skopje), Pravo Ljudski Film Festival (Sarajevo), DokuFest (Prizren) and MakeDox (Skopje). The project is generously supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD).
